It’s decided

Well, I have officially decided to move from WordPress to Blogger.

I’m already happier with Blogger than I have been with WordPress for awhile.  Setting up my new blog was relatively easy, and the things I was unsure of didn’t take me long to figure out.

My plan is to move my recipes over to Blogger.  I don’t want to have to start from scratch.  I’d like my readers to have something to go back to if necessary, and I often search my blog for recipes I want to make again.  My blog is where I document how I want to make things the next time.  So, it’ll be good for all of us.  :)

I will probably keep my WordPress account open since I’ve pinned many items from my blog, but from now on, you can find me at www.rebeckann.blogspot.com

See you there!

It’s Ok Thursday 1/17

ItsOkThursdaysButton

It’s ok…to take a day off.  Sometimes, you just need more than Saturday and Sunday.

It’s ok…to feel weird.  Feeling weird is better than feeling sick.  I don’t feel sick.  I just feel weird.  Hopefully, that does NOT mean that I’m getting sick because that wouldn’t be ok…

It’s ok…to be so excited for Glee to come back new next week.  WHAT’S WITH THE LONG BREAKS, GLEE??

It’s ok…that my Christmas decorations are still up. Not that I have a ton, but whatever.  I’ve been busy, and I was sick last weekend.  Don’t judge.  ;)

It’s ok…that I would really like to find a way (or ways) to make a decent living from home.  And by decent, I mean the pay I have now (or more) with the same amazing benefits.  (I don’t ask for much….)

It’s ok…that I haven’t shared an actual recipe post in a while.  I love sharing my kitchen “adventures” but I just haven’t had any lately.  I promise that I’ll try to share something soon!

It’s ok…to discover something new.  I’ve seen tons of Polyvore outfit creations on Pinterest, but I never made any of my own until the My Harry Potter Fix link-up this week.  I had so much fun once I figured out how it worked.  And don’t judge me by the Slytherin outfits, the Pottermore Beta site hated me or something.

My friend texted me this one today, and to conclude, I think it needs sharing:

It’s ok…to not be able to find two matching  clean socks!  :)

My Harry Potter Fix Week 14

buttonharryfix_zps119ff2b9

For this week’s My Harry Potter Fix, Ashley, Tarole, and Kim asked us to share our Harry Potter fashion.  I’ve drooled over Polyvore created outfits on Pinterest, but I’ve never actually made any myself.  So please don’t judge.  :)

My Harry Potter Fix Week 14
This first one is general Hogwarts casual.  :)
My Harry Potter Fix Week 14 Slytherin
Tragically, I was sorted into Slytherin House on Pottermore.  SOOO….I thought I’d create a casual and dressy style for my house.  woot. ;)   BUT don’t you totally love what happened with all the snakes (YUCK) there?  The bow on the dress, bows on the shoes, and snakes in the shape of bows??  If they weren’t snakes, I’d love it even more.
Ok, all.  Once I got the hang of it, and how I could actually post the pictures into WordPress (let’s just add that to my list of reasons to switch to blogspot…) it was pretty easy, but now, I’m too tired to do any more!  Come link up, and share your style Harry Potter-style!
Question Suggestions “My Harry Potter Fix”: If you could BE any Harry Potter character, which one would you be, and why?
Honestly, what house do you think you’d REALLY be sorted into?

Dinner Time Tuesday

Well, blog friends, I was so hungry for my dinner tonight that I forgot to take a picture for you.  I can assure you, though, it was delicious.

Tonight for dinner, Scott made me 2 grilled cheese sandwiches (with ooey, gooey Velveeta cheese) and tomato soup.  It was seriously so good.  He wouldn’t tell me what he put in the tomato soup, but he made it a bit spicy.  Mmmm.  The thought is helping to keep me warm…except for my feet.  They’re freezing.

In other news, I am considering moving my blog from WordPress to Blogspot.  So many other fabulous blogs I read are based from these hosts.  One of the other reasons I am considering this is because I was looking into the idea of getting sponsors.  I set everything up with Passionfruitads.com, because it says it will work with WordPress.  After doing that, I discover that WordPress doesn’t allow advertisements from 3rd party, blah blah blah somethingorother.

I need your help because I have some concerns.  Here are my concerns AND my reasons WHY I would like to move.

1.  I don’t want to sound like I’m begging, but moving my blog would be a lot of work.  I probably wouldn’t move my “random thoughts” like my link-up posts, but I would be moving all of my recipes over.  SO if I do this on the basis of having sponsors, do I have any readers out there who would be willing to sponsor Rebeckann’s Random Thoughts & Recipes??

2. Readers I sponsor (*ahem* Kim, Tarole, & Ashley) would it be difficult to change my button on your pages so it directs people to my new blog address??  (Speaking of the awesome ladies I sponsor, you should go link up with them for “My Harry Potter Fix”!)

3. To follow a blog on WordPress, I need to add your blog’s link to my list.  HOWEVER, WordPress seems to think I don’t need to see all the posts from blogs I follow all the time or something.  For example, I will see that Kristin from Kristin’s kNook wrote a new post from my Twitter feed, but when I log in to WordPress, it’s not there.  So I have to go to “edit” my list and click on the link to her blog from there.  Sometimes, this causes me to miss posts.  ANNOYING.

4.  WordPress makes it EXTREMELY difficult to know how many followers you have.  It counts people who come to your blog from the link on my Facebook page or Twitter.  It counts the people who actually have subscribed through e-mail.  WordPress, I’m not trying to be modest, but I reeeeaaalllly don’t think I have 400+ followers, when some of my amazing blog friends don’t have that many.  But thanks.

There are probably more things, but they’re not coming to mind right now.

Please let me know your thoughts!  I’d love to hear what you have to say.

OH, and by the way, Ashley’s second edition of her newsletter came out today.  Have you subscribed yet??  Head on over and do it!  (Like now!)

First Book of the New Year

I got a big stack of new books for Christmas.  Since I asked for mostly books and clothes, I would say that Santa granted my wishes!  Choosing which book to start with came down to just grabbing the book on the top of the pile.

The Little Book by Selden Edwards is a book my friend Brooke shared on her blog, and since she stated that if you like The Time Traveler’s Wife, you would like this book, I was sold.

Here’s the synopsis from the back cover of the book:

“When Wheeler Burden–banking heir, rock idol, baseball hero, bestselling author–suddenly finds himself dislocated in time from 1988 San Francisco to Vienna in the year 1897, he’s arrived at a pivotal moment in history, philosophy, art, and culture.  It is a time when the coming twentieth century looms before the world with great promise and peril, and when Vienna is enjoying its magnificent swan song as the epicenter of modern thought and the seat of European intellectual and political life.

But what’s most important to Wheeler from the earliest moments of his arrival are finding an appropriate set of clothes and discovering the identity of the luminous young woman he encounters early in his stay.  These simple actions set in motion a series of events that will ultimately reveal the incredible truth at the heart of Wheeler’s adventure and will illuminate the eccentric Burden family’s unrivaled impact on the very course of human history.”

I.  LOVED. THIS. BOOK.

First of all, I love the subject of time travel.  The Back to the Future movies are among my favorites, and the book The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger was riveting to me.  (P.S.  Though good, the movie version of The Time Traveler’s Wife isn’t even CLOSE to as good as the book.)  The thing I love most about the subject is the confusing, yet intriguing, ways that the time traveler impacts the future.

I will be honest.  I wasn’t sure I would like the book at first.  When I started reading, I felt that the beginning chapters were…I’m not sure.  Maybe just not what I was expecting.  The story begins with Wheeler’s arrival in Vienna.  That threw me off and confused me a bit for some reason.  I suppose I was expecting to learn a little about who he was before being transported back in time.  HOWEVER, I pressed on, and soon I was enthralled as the story began the back-and-forth of Wheeler’s situation in Vienna and explaining more about his story from childhood to adulthood.  I loved how many chapters left clues that hinted to things occuring while he is in Vienna.  The story allows you to make predictions, and as the story unfolds, light bulbs start going off in your head.  You get many “Aha!” moments as something you were predicting actually happens.

Amazing.

If you’re looking for a book to add to your reading list, I HIGHLY recommend this book.  The good news is that there is a sequel to this book titled The Lost Prince.  I think I’m going to need to find that one soon!

It’s Ok Thursday…

ItsOkThursdaysButton

I’m linking up again this week for “It’s Ok Thursdays.”

This week, it’s ok….

…that I am hungry.  A LOT.

…to record award shows and watch them later.  They’re on SO LATE.  (aka I’m watching The People’s Choice Awards right now.)

…to not be sure you can make it through a 5 day work week.  :p

…that I’m a little stressed.  I just feel like there’s so much to do, and I’m just too tired to do it.

…to be tired for no reason that I can think of.  I’ve been going to bed early-ish this week.  I don’t feel sick.  I am just so tired.  I think it’s January.

…to hate January.  This month sucks.

…that it is going to be in the 50s this weekend.  Bye, bye, snow! :)

…that Maroon 5 won the People’s Choice Award for Best Band.

I mean, seriously.  The fact that they won means I got to watch him give an acceptance speech.  *Drools*

Dinner Time Tuesday

It’s Tuesday.  That means it’s time for me to share what I ate for dinner tonight. Pictured below is what remained of my chicken salad when I remembered that I needed to take a picture of my dinner. I baked the restaurant style chicken that we buy at Sam’s club. It was on top of green leaf lettuce with carrots, cheese, French fries, and poppyseed dressing. Not “healthy” per se, but I ate vegetables. That’s impressive for me.
